Hockey for Autism was founded with a single goal: to offer safe, fun, non-competitive hockey to children with ASD desiring to play.
There are no tryouts but players should have basic skating skills. Players will learn how to handle a stick, pass and shoot - all at their own pace.
All players will participate in both drills and games, whatever their abilities.
The primary objective is to have fun, enjoy interacting socially and gain hockey skills.
The program is available to both male and female players, ages 7-14. Full equipment is mandatory.
The 2019-20 season started Sept. 29, 2019. The new time slot we have been given is Sundays from 4-5pm. 24 sessions. Last date is March 29. No ice Thanksgiving weekend or Dec 29 and Jan 5. There is a wait-list as we cap at 18 participants. If you are interested in finding out more about Hockey for Autism please contact us.
A full season is now 24 sessions. All sessions take place at National Training Rinks in Newmarket. 1155 Stellar Drive.
We're home to the only recreational hockey program specifically tailored for both boys and girls aged 7-14 with ASD in the York Region area. We feature a 30 minute non-competitive 3 on 3 scrimmage game every session.
We would like to acknowledge our sponsors after CBC helped us launch the program in 2014.
